Start Journal Writing

by Fabby W. Walsh

Here we will talk about keeping a journal. Journal writing has all sorts of benefits and it's very easy to get started. You can get these great benefits by starting your very own journal. By keeping a journal, you are keeping a written record of your life.

Your journal can be this and much more if you let it. By keeping a journal, you can find things out about yourself you may never have thought of.

The first thing you need to do is buy a journal. You can be fancy and buy a beautiful journal with special binding, a leather cover, and lots of colors, or you can use a simple spiral-bound notebook or composition notebook.

You choose the notebook or journal that you like the most and will work best for you. Another idea is to use your computer. Get a journal software or just use a simple word processor.

Once you have your journal, just start writing. To get the most out of your journal, you have to write on a regular basis, preferably everyday. If you cant find the time everyday, make a schedule of when you can write such as every other day, every Monday and Thursday, or every weekend. The more frequent it is, the easier it will be to make it a habit.

Try to write everyday if you can. You will get a lot more out of it. You don't even need to write that much. Even if it's just 10 minutes everyday, that is great because you are getting yourself in the habit of writing. This is what you want to do, create a habit.

What should you write about? The best part about journaling is that you can write anything you want. Write about your day, write about your feelings, write about the people in your life, write stories, poems, and screenplays, or write about the first thing that pops into your head. Journaling is supposed to let you be creative and release everything. Don't confine yourself!

Once you've gotten your journaling practice off the ground, take advantage of the opportunities it brings you. It has so many advantages that you will find evident in your life. Have fun and keep writing!
