Reimage Review – PC Maintenance Software For The Home Office
Over recent years, Reimage has been aiding Windows owners who require a one-stop pc fix solution for their software, registry and operating system, but do not wish to incur expensive repair technician costs or be without their laptop/desktop for any prolonged period of time. I started using Reimage 16 months ago on 2 desktops and a work laptop all running XP and they have all remained stable, fast, virus-free computers as a direct result of using Reimage.
What is the idea behind Reimage?
Reimage is an online PC maintenance software service that can make your Windows XP machine run like new, without the need to reinstall Windows and without losing personal data.
Reimage starts by running a half hour scan to check the wellbeing of your system files. After viewing the results of the scan you can run a 30 minute pc repair process to fix all the faults. This replaces any faulty or missing files using a spare parts repository of 25 million files off of the Reimage servers. Lastly it does a reboot for the repairs to take effect.
Files can become faulty or go missing over time due to application installations, virus damage, faulty drivers, broken registry key entries or just not being kept up to date with the latest file versions. Reimage can do the pc troubleshooting and then repair all of these faults.
How has Reimage performed in the field?
I have been using Reimage since September 2008 on 3 PCs. In this time, I have run a full scan on a quarterly basis against each of the machines. The first scan takes 30 minutes and is wholly automated and I am happy to say that it has performed excellently every time.
The initial pc troubleshooting scan highlighted a lot of damaged system files which it was able to repair using the online repository of healthy files. I allotted these faults to installation/removal of dozens of applications and hardware upgrades I've made to the PCs over their lifespan. The native O/S drivers were also highlighted as out-of-date.
Once Reimage had remedied all the faulty/missing files identified and the full system reboot I noted the PC did boot up a lot faster, application stability had improved (especially using older software which had benefited from driver upgrades) and better internet connection performance (probably due to the modem's driver upgrade).
One chief advantage of Reimage is that no data regarding login details/settings in applications is lost as a result of the repairs. This was crucial in using it on my laptop for work, which I use daily so needed to have the repairs completed in a few short hours. In fact, it only took 45 minutes and repaired Windows XP without needing to format hard drives, and crucially leaving all user data and software unharmed!
