Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL Plus Review
The specs on the new thirteen inch laptop from Apple, the Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL, includes a 2.26GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor and it is upgradeable from the 2GB of DDR3 RAM to 8GB. These features, in addition to the 160GB hard drive storage on the laptop make it one of the most desirable consumer laptops. The glossy, thirteen inch screen displays images and videos using 1280 x 800 resolution. Despite these great specs, there are some who are not fully convinced that it is as good as they claim.
It is hard to find anybody who doesn't admire the uni-body casing of aluminum. Then there are multi-task gestures, Mac OS and overall design that is impressive. The Apple MacBook Pro MB990LL is a beautifully designed laptop. However, this stylish appearance is not enough to convince all consumers. There are those who point out it is possible to get more for less money.
This laptop does have a surface that is glossy and this allows for superior viewing if lighting circumstances are good. Some did find that when lighting conditions were normal there was too much light reflected. The keyboard is normal sized but has no number pad. The battery of this model is not removable.
The Mac OS is superior to the OS on other laptops- that is not a disputed fact. The multi-tasking presentation is what makes the Mac OS preferred. Many consumers are pleased that Apple has made improvements over the first 13" aluminum MacBook they launched. The reduced selling price is another thing that consumers are happy about, reducing the price by an impressive $100.
The battery life on the MacBook Pro is definitely an upgrade. However, a consumer did notice he got six hours from the battery rather than the seven he expected. The MacBook Pro's battery is not easy to take out. The power cord is noticeably short and this means you have to be seated near to an outlet. It is felt the SD card should not stick out as it does.
The disappointed consumers could have been misled with the pre-launch hype of this laptop. Expectations of the MacBook Pro may have been too high to obtain. The difficulty in using the cursor control and the dialog books that were too numerous were complaints that some consumers reported.
If there was one feature that all consumers found to be impressive it was the uni-body enclosure. Multiple parts are used to construct notebooks. However, the MacBook Pro is made of a single part. This is completely unique and considered as groundbreaking. In other words, the uni-body is one piece of aluminum. The manufacturer shapes and works this piece into the uni-body with its incorporated keyboard.
It is an unbelievably thin and lightweight laptop that is easily portable, yet strong and durable enough to use indoors or out. The preloaded software includes Apple Mac's Leopard OS, iTunes, iLife 09, Garageband, iPhoto and iMovie, which many consumers liked and considered a bonus on the Apple MacBook Pro.
