Getting Everything Done With Netbooks

We cannot deny that technology really advances every day, from making desktops that can read BluRay Discs to laptops with high-end WiFi catchers. There are also some computers that have high quality video cards that are meant for gaming while there are those computers that have high sound boosters made especially for musicians and music lovers.

These days, the gadgets that are gaining a lot of popularity are netbooks. These gadgets are the ones that are considered to be small computers that can do a lot of things, but are more portable than most computers.

Netbooks can be described as an evolution from regular laptops. Laptops have always been mobile but they are still big in size. But now these netbooks are created to be much smaller. It is half the size of the previous laptops but has most the functionality of a regular one.

Netbooks don't have all the functionality of a full laptop, but they are still ideal for web surfing, emailing, chatting, and producing word documents. Some are powerful enough that they make good systems for photo or video editing, but before you purchase a netbook with this in mind, make sure you check the exact specifications (the memory, hard disk, video card, etc) of the computer.

Probably the biggest reason netbooks are becoming so popular is because our mobile lifestyle requires computers that are as portable as possible. As long as you are in a place with a good wireless internet connection, you have all you need. Whether you need to check your social media updates or chat with friends, you can do it wherever you are. Also, students love netbooks because they can take notes on them in class.

In terms of price, these gadgets are cheaper compared to laptops and desktops. For example, you will be able to get a netbook that would only cost approximately $500. And you do not need to do a lot of set up with these because there are a number of them that are ready to use, compared to desktops that you will need to install or uninstall a great number of programs.

The majority of good netbooks these days come with built in webcams. This is extremely convenient because everybody is video chatting now and wanting to stay in touch with all their friends and family over video. With webcams built in, this is as easy as can be.

So if you want to have some very convenient and reliable gadgets, netbooks are something that you can rely on. With its portability and functionality, you are sure to have a good system with you all the time.

As technology becomes smaller and more mobile, there has been an upswellin the popularity of netbooks. More mobile than laptops, netbooks give you most everything you need at a small price.

Find Power and Mobility with a Netbook or Notebook Computer

The laptop is considered as the portable and mobile version of personal computers. From time to time, various versions of these computers were developed along with varying features. But the latest version of laptops has captured a lot of interest lately in the industry and is called a netbook computer. Netbook computers are often referred to as low budget computers. When compared to the typical laptops, netbook computers are far cheaper with a price range starting at $230. They are also even smaller than notebooks which were the previous minute versions of a laptop.

The typical screen size of netbook computers is about 9 to 10 inches and are lightweight weighing only 2 to 3 pounds. The size of the keyboard of these computers is generally 5% to 20% smaller than that of a regular laptop. But the common downside with netbook computers is that they can't be reliable for some tough jobs as they usually have less power and can operate only on previous versions of operating systems.

One popular line of these mini computers is the Dell Mini Netbook. Some of the Mini Netbook models available are the Mini 9, Mini 10v, and the Mini 10. Dell's Mini 9 has an 8.9" display monitor and with a weight starting at just 2.28 pounds. This type of netbook runs on either Ubuntu Linux Operating System or Windows XP and offers the feature of a wireless connection.

You also get to enjoy your favorite movies at any time with its optional external optical drive. Being a netbook computer, which is just 1.07" thin, makes the perfect choice for the busiest of people and can be purchased starting at $239.

Another pride of Dell is the Mini 10v which only exceeds Mini 9's weight by a fraction with a display monitor of 10.1". Despite its minute size, Mini 10v does not come short of cool and interesting features. It also comes with a wireless connection option for convenient web surfing. One fine addition to this netbook computer is its built-in GPS that allows you to navigate anywhere in the world. With a fair price of only $299, this is definitely one of the best choices to make.

Netbook computers' very existence is to provide web users with laptops that have reasonable prices, are lightweight, and small. The traditional laptops and some other types usually are too expensive for everyone to purchase. However, netbook computers have far fewer ports compared to the conventional laptop, which is also one of the reasons why they are lower in price. They also have much less power compared to typical laptops making them incapable of performing heavy duty tasks like video presentations and video editing.

On average, a notebook computer weighs 6 pounds or less making it a lot more convenient to carry these cool gadgets anyplace you go. Its compact design allows the user to safe keep the unit in a suitcase or other small carrying case. One common thing that greatly emphasizes notebook computers is their display screen. Flat-panel technologies are frequently applied to these computers to come up with compact and light screens.

In the industry today, Dell is known to be one of the leading names that produce the best quality of computers and software. Comprising its line are the Inspiron Series, Studio and Studio XPS Series, Alienware, and Adamo. The sizes of display screens of Inspiron Series measure from 11" to 17". All of the models in this series are considered to be lightweight weighing 3.05 pounds to 6.80 pounds. All of these notebook computers come with high definition widescreens that perfectly match all the sophisticated features applied into the units. Being able to purchase these notebook computers for less than $500 will definitely encourage you to buy more of these models for your friends and relatives.

Before you buy your next computer, be certain you do your research to see if a notebook computer or one of various netbook computers are right for you.

The Dell XPS M1530 ” Slim and Light Technology

by Dindo Donald

The unit is current technology at its finest. It is at a thin 0.9 inches and thickest at 35.1mm. The carrying poundage is a light 5.72 lbs making it easy to carry and handle. This fifteen-inch machine has become as popular as its smaller predecessor, the Dell XPS M1330, which was considered as one of the best units ever created. Its makers, Dell has definitely improved the strengths of the smaller unit into a bigger capacity resulting in the XPS M1530. It tried improving on what is an already good set up in the latter mobile computer. The changes are improvements though the same drawbacks of the elder still remain.

The XPS M1530 is the slimiest 15-inch laptop, as popular as its senior, the Dell XPS M1330. The preceding model (XPS M1330) was just incredible that it was considered as one of the best notebooks ever made. But Dell was considering that the bigger size might be an edge, and so the XPS M1530 was born.

The increased laptop size and its new powerful build is the new edge of this XPS series. The 15.4 widescreen display is gorgeously bright and brilliant with its straight and horizontal viewing and so with the vertical angles. Moreover, its built-in HDMI is a wonderful thing to look up to for a digital video output. The difference between M1530 and M1330 is that the former offers an XGA (1280x800) display, while the latter had the option for a thinner and more power efficient LED backlit display. However, M1530 provides 2.0MP web cam with the standard thinker CCFL screen.

But who has the better touch? Well, the two XPS models have similar keyboard format. The keypad is firm and is soft for the fingers. However, it produces clicking sounds but comfort is still overrates the noise. Its scroll areas are reactive as well.

In addition, the M1530 offers up to 2.80GHz Intel T7800 processor while M1330 had 2.2GHz Intel T7500 processor. Moreover, XPS 1530 uses GDDR3 RAM rather than GDDR2 which is commonly used. Also, the XPS M1530 has a more powerful graphics card, the nVidia 8600M GT, for a better graphic display performance compared to that of an nVidia 8400 GS of XPS M1330.

Audio quality wise, this business laptop doesnt have a subwoofer so we can categorize it as average. And they are just the same with XPS M1330 with the speaker found at the top of the keyboard. Other than MP3s, the screeching sound of slot-loading optical drive is very audible. As this problem always involves the hard disk, its quite a big turn off.

In totality, we can say that Dells XPS M1530 is good but not enough. With its downside on noisy hard drives and limited options for screen optimization, it could fall to second-best to its counterparts within the price of $1089.

Is A Notebook Computer Right For You?

by Steven North

As technology continues to advance, the world will, in a way, keep getting smaller. New technologies have allowed us to stay in constant contact with each other and the Internet has made it possible to keep communications open across huge distances with just a couple clicks of the mouse.

It has definitely changed everybody's lives, because now even the huge personal computers have evolved to become a handy notebook computer or what is more popularly called a laptop. In other words, a notebook computer is something that you can carry with you everywhere you go.

Depending on how it was constructed and the different components that went into it, a notebook computer could only be a couple of pounds in weight. Almost all are thin enough to slide right into to a briefcase. A quality notebook computer is now something that businesses can't afford not to have.

Individual users, as well, have found these computers indispensible in the modern world. It almost seems like one can't leave the house without having one nearby. There seem to be students or professionals working on laptops everywhere you go. After all, some business professionals just can't risk being very far away from important business information while traveling.

A notebook computer is also particularly useful to students who need easy access to their research or other applications. They can get what they need anywhere, as long as there is a convenient WiFi connection. Everything they require can be downloaded and saved onto the notebook just as if it were a full desktop computer, and they can take their laptop to class to take notes or deliver a presentation.

If a business professional needs access to important files or presentations during a business meeting, they have it with their notebook computer. This allows them to take their work with them no matter where they go. Since many computers have outstanding batter life these days, you might be able to do everything you need on one battery charge.

A notebook computer commonly has an LCD screen, but its memory module is dissimilar from the desktop computers. Most of these laptops carry a VGA resolution, a built-in keyboard and a touchpad that works as your mouse.

If you are planning on purchasing a notebook computer, keep in mind this one important bit of information: a laptop at the same price as a desktop will be an inferior machine. Desktops are much less expensive for what you get, and with laptops, you pay for the portability. Still, the portability is very much worth it to many people, so they don't mind the notebook premium.

Laptops That Are Almost Free

by Jack Ryan

Consider now to be almost a perfect time to replace your desktop with a Toshiba satellite laptop. There is some super deals that will allow you to get a new laptop with all the bells and whistles for what some would call a song and dance. This will allow you to be more mobile and your Internet experience will be more vibrant as the power of a laptop will bring your experience closer to you.

The Toshiba satellite L355 has a 2.16 GHz dual core Intel Pentium processor. This may sound like mumbo-jumbo to a lot of people but the bottom line is the computer is super fast. It also comes with a generous 250 GB hard drive along with 3 GB of RAM that can be upgraded to 4 GB of RAM, a WiFi connection that is able to.11 B. or G., a five in one memory card reader, integrated graphics, and finally it uses a minimal amount of lead so the impact to the environment is kept at its lowest level.

Okay, we went over the technical aspects of the computer and I hope you're still awake because now we need to talk about the operating system. The laptop uses Microsoft Windows Vista home version with media Center capabilities. This will allow you to manage and play your audio and video, view your photos, and watch TVs and movies like you do on a regular television.

The monitor is a 17 inch LCD screen with a sharp and clear display that'll give you details in your viewing that you most likely have not experienced before. You'll enjoy watching your TV shows and movies like you do on a traditional television with the sound system that is exceptional.

Because of the high quality processor that's used, the 2.16 GHz Pentium T 3400, will allow you to perform multiple tasks at the same time. As you become more of a power user on your computer you want to be able to do more than one thing at a time. On a slow computer this can be frustrating while you're waiting for your computer to catch up with your actions.

In summary, now is an awesome time to get a computer at a very low price. As the newer models emerge they tend to drive the prices down in the lower or older models. This is where you can swoop in to get a deal on a computer that is 100 to several hundred dollars less than last year's prices. Most of the time we do not need the top-of-the-line newly released computer and it would be a great deal to pay $300-$500 less for the same computer just because it was released a year ago.

Laptop Options

by Craig Stephenson

Whether one is primarily a business, home or student laptop user, he or she will find a number of options when choosing among size and weight, processing speed and memory, screen resolution, networking capability and battery life. A frequent flier looking for a laptop to use for a presentation, a home user looking to email photos to family and a student looking to do research for school will all find the right laptop to suit their needs and budget. The number of laptop categories, from ultraportable to desktop replacement to budget, has increased significantly in the last several years as markets have increased and prices have decreased.

Business, Home or Student User Business users who manage spreadsheets and create presentations should make sure the laptop is sturdy enough to stand up to a rigorous amount of travel. Home users should make sure the laptop can handle use by small children, and may want to make sure it has a CD burner for family photos, has enough power for games and can be wired to a network easily. Students can find budget laptops on which to write papers, edit artwork and make movies, although their primary concern may be that it can handle a late night coffee spill.

Size and Weight There is a significant trade-off between the size and weight of a laptop and the screen size and processor speed. A lighter laptop has smaller screen, a less powerful processor and shorter battery life. A CD or DVD burner drive will also increase a laptop's weight and size.

Processor Speed and Amount of Memory The processor, or CPU (central processing unit) is the brain of any computer. It executes the functions the user commands within a certain amount of time. Many laptops today have dual processors to provide faster response. Random access memory or RAM, allows the laptop to dynamically store the data to which a user needs access. Since most laptops come with a limited amount of RAM, all users should make sure RAM can be increased post purchase.

Screen Resolution A large screen is easier to work on. The resolution, or clarity of pixels, is also higher. A larger screen makes it easier to toggle among several open documents or windows, and it's easier on the eyes. Older users in particular should purchase a laptop with the largest screen that fits their budget.

Networking Capability All laptops today come equipped with networking and wireless capability. For users who will connect to a work, home or wireless network, it's best to find the laptop with the fastest Ethernet interface possible, as this will determine the speed at which the connection to the network takes place.

Life of the Battery A more powerful processor will drain the battery faster than a less powerful one, so users who regularly work on battery power should purchase a second for use as backup.

What’s The Difference Between Netbooks & Laptops

by Domingo Sanchez

When netbooks first hit the market they were a new option for many users who just needed to take their computer on the road to be connected to the internet and email. They were super small and very underpowered, but they were a welcomed change from the heavier, bigger laptops that people were lugging around. Both netbooks and laptops were designed for portability, but there are some very important things that set them two of them apart.

There are two significant differences between netbooks and laptops to the casual buyer. The first is, of course, the size. Netbooks are very small -- usually only about 9" to 10" across. This means you can easily transport it in a convenient bag, but it also means that typing on the keyboard can be a little cramped.

The second major difference is the price. On average, netbooks are about half the price of a top of the line laptop. If a person is looking for a mobile solution, but can't afford the high price of a laptop, this might be the best way to go.

Besides those main reasons, there are some other important differences that most customers tend to overlook. When overlooking these differences, you could be quite shocked when you get your new netbook home and out of the box.

The major point that needs to be stressed to a consumer is that a netbook is not a mini laptop. Laptop computers are comparable to a desktop computer but scaled way down so that it is portable. Netbooks were specifically designed to be a device that can connect to the internet and run small applications. You shouldn't be planning on running multiple apps or even high-end programs or games on a netbook.

Due to the increased demand, the difference between netbooks and laptops is slowly starting to narrow. More of the companies are starting to increase the size, processing power, and the memory on these devices. Since technology continues to advance, the prices and sizes of laptops continue to decrease.

Some of the big makers of computer components and software are discouraging this line-blurring because they often make their products available to netbook producers at a discounted price. If users can get the same functionality out of cheaper netbook as a full-featured laptop, their own profit margins will start to drop off.

Yes, netbooks might not be as powerful as a normal, full size laptop, but they are perfect for what they intend to be used for.

by Michael Tan

If you like to browse the internet very easily and in a short period of time, you need to opt for Lenovo IdeaPad S12. I'm definitely sure you will like its performance. You need to read this in order to know about this laptop. However, you still have to do more research if you want to get all the information you need to know.

This netbook is good and solid. It is not easy to get broken. Its battery is also solid. Besides, the hinges that hold the display on are solid too. So, you don't have to worry about your laptop at all. It is certainly durable and it has good quality. There are some white S12 laptops which are good and easy to be cleaned. Black S12 netbooks, on the other hand, are better than white netbooks because they do not pick up stains very easily.

I don't think you will find big differences between the Lenovo IdeaPad S12 Laptop and the other IdeaPad laptops. Lenovo IdeaPad S12 has a large size which is even larger than the other netbooks. The laptop's display is 1280 x 800 in resolution. You don't have to worry if you would like to watch a video or look at your photos. You will be able to look and watch whatever you want so clearly. You are not going only to watch clearly, but you will be able to hear so perfectly.

Besides, S12 includes Quick Start. A Web browser, photo viewer, music player, and other applications are included in these Quick Start apps. Of course, this Quick Start is not as functional as Windows software; however, it is good. Besides, S12 has certainly number of ports for any peripheral. There are two USB ports, a Wi-Fi on/off switch, a headphone, and mic ports.

There is also an Intel Atom processor and Intel Atom joined with Nvidia's GeForce 9400M graphics. Because IdeaPad S12 is too large, it has room for so many things. There is a room for larger display, for a full sized keyboard and even some buttons above the keyboard.

You will certainly be attracted by the beautiful design of the laptop. Even if you are not interested in the design and you are interested more in the performance of the laptop, you will get both of them at the same time.

Inexpensive Laptop

by Craig Stephenson

If you are looking to buy a cheap laptop there are plenty of options on the market. Several top companies offer laptops under $1000, brand new. Most people can find something that not only incorporates the latest technology, but also meets their individual needs. A general-use laptop can be as low as $260, however, it's only a few hundred more to upgrade.

There are several inexpensive laptop models available on the market today. One of the cheapest is the Dell mini, with its 10 inch screen it is ultra portable. It has a keyboard that is 92% that of a traditional laptop, so you don't have to sacrifice efficiency to price or size. It is also equipped with a long life Lithium-Ion battery, wireless capabilities, 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM memory, a wide screen, mobile connectivity, Intel Atom processor, video card, a 120- 160 GB hard drive; and it comes with Ubuntu or Windows XP already loaded, so you're ready to go.

There are many brick and mortar locations where you can find a good deal on a laptop. Most people automatically think of CompUSA, or BestBuy when considering a new computer, and though they carry some cheap laptops, they aren't the only place to look. Wal-Mart, K-mart, or Target have unbeatable prices. Their selection of models is limited, but you can find brand names like Toshiba or Dell and Acer. Bulk stores also have good package deals. However, you have to have a membership to places like Sam's Club or Costco, and though you get more for your money, the packages can be more expensive than a laptop alone.

If shopping online is not a problem, Dell.com, Macintosh.com and TigerDirect.com are some of the best sites to shop. Dell has a wide selection of lower end laptops from around $360 that can be personally customized. Macintosh also sells a few cheap laptops, however their selection is small. Of the three, TigerDirect.com is the best. They have a huge selection, the best prices, and great support.

People don't usually think of buying a computer second hand, but it's the best way to get a cheap laptop. A refurbished laptop, one that has been rebuilt by a qualified company, can give the best features for the lowest price. And because they've been rebuilt, they are just like new.

When attempting to purchase a refurbished computer, be aware that not all companies are reputable. Do some research into the company before buying anything from them. Most top selling computer companies, such as Dell, Toshiba, or Macintosh sell their own refurbished computers, and websites like TigerDirect.com also sells some of the cheapest.

There are a lot of benefits to owning a cheap laptop. They can be everything needed for everyday use, but without the worry of high replacement cost. This can be especially important if the laptop is going to be used for school or travel. Most cheap laptops still come with a one year warranty, which can be upgraded if a longer one is needed. And, since most of the top companies provide inexpensive models, a cheap laptop doesn't have to be low quality.
