Some are so bad that they can delete all of the information on a hard drive. It is really important not to open email attachments from people you don't know. Sometimes, the more clever hacker will find a way to send emails from people you know, so you will open it.

Banking systems, government systems and transportation systems would be primary targets for cyber-terrorists who want to cripple an economy or cause mass confusion which gives them a chance to move in on a target. The beginning of such chaos could begin with something as simple as a virus.

Is your laptop battery not lasting as long as it used to and you're not exactly sure why it isn't? There are several reasons why your battery charge is not lasting as long as it used to when you first purchased your laptop. One of the factors that could affect the length of time that your battery stays charged is your usage habit. The more physical devices that you use on your laptop that involves using electricity, the more you can expect your battery charge not to last long.

Physical devices on your laptop that you use, which requires using electricity, will also cause your battery run time to not last very long. The physical devices that are some of the problems with your battery's charge to be depleted are the hard drive, CD-ROM and the floppy drive. There are probably some processes that you are using on your laptop that cause your physical memory to become exhausted in your system. The system will change to the virtual memory to finish the process you are in the middle of completing. The virtual memory is created to increase the system memory resources by devising a memory swap file on the hard drive and transferring the needed data between the hard drive and the physical memory.

The hard drive uses plenty of electricity, the virtual memory will end up using quite a bit of electricity because it has to use the hard drive when it is producing the virtual memory. The audio and display devices can be another factor in excessive use of electricity. You can try to turn down the display screen and it will not be as bright, but it may help lessen the amount of electricity you are using. There are video devices that use graphic programs that also use quite a bit of electricity as well. Video software can also deplete your battery because it uses the virtual memory, computation and calculations.

There is also battery memory that could be why your laptop battery isn't holding out. Battery memory is an event when the battery conditions itself to run on less time that what it should run on to be efficient. One scenario is if you use your laptop on battery for an hour and half and then decide to plug it up to charge, the battery will become accustomed to only working on an hour and half and then the battery will become less charged and useless.

In order to repair battery memory problems, you must totally drain the battery and then recharge it. Go to your Windows Control Panel and select power to totally drain your battery. Turn off Power Management. Then go into your BIOS and check and see if there is a power management setting there, if so, you must turn it off also. After you finish these steps, use your Escape key to return back to the top level menu, choose Save Settings and Exit. After you have finished turning off the power management in the BIOS and your operating system, unplug the computer, turn the computer on and let it go until it is totally drained of electricity.

Once you have completed these steps, charge the battery for twelve hours. After charging for twelve hours, use the computer again until the power is dead and you will need to charge the battery again for twelve more hours. Repeat these steps four times and this should take care of the problem and return the computer back to its original power management settings. It is recommended that the battery should be used once every two weeks and you should also keep the battery in the system so that the AC adapter will keep the battery charged all the time and this helps the battery. In addition, if the battery is not going to be used for more than two weeks, you should completely discharge the battery and store it at room temperature to prevent damage.

Just because netbooks are inexpensive doesn't mean that you should go ahead and just buy any netbook that you see first. There is an art or skill to shopping for netbooks. Before you make a decision and buy any old netbook, there are a few things that you should consider first:

Consider your wants and your needs - There are two basic types of mini laptops considered netbooks on the market. There are netbooks with Hard Disc Drives (HDD) and there are netbooks with Solid State Drives (SSD). HDD netbooks can store up to 160GB of data on their hard drive, but the drive is not as tough as their SSD counterpart. Consider the brand - There are many brands of netbooks out in the market today. ASUS definitely created the netbook market in 2007, but other manufacturers followed soon after, including Acer, Lenovo, HP, Dell, and MSI, among others. Consider User Reviews - One way to put netbooks to the "test" without actually using it is to read reviews users write about specific netbooks. Manufactures are always going to portray their product as the "latest and greatest" product on the market. User reviews are an honest, first hand rundown on a particular netbook model. Another great way to get reviews of specific netbook brands or models is to search for forums on the different netbook models.

Consider Comparison Shopping - One rule that I follow for everything I shop for online is to never settle on the first price you see on a shopping website. You should compare prices on specific models of netbooks from at least three different vendors before ordering your netbook. Some shopping websites can offer their netbooks for less than others because they order a large wholesale purchase. If you buy online, also factor in the cost to ship your netbook in with the total price to determine the best value. Even though netbooks are new to the technology development scene and to the realm of mobile computing they are gaining a lot of the market share. There are many consumers that are looking for ultra portable but powerful computing devices that provide access to their important programs, applications and information no matter where they are. With so many different names for portable computers including laptop, portable pc and notebook, not all consumers have a good understanding of what makes a netbook different from a laptop or notebook which is causing some confusion.

Netbooks were not created for individuals who do a lot of gaming, programming, and building databases. They are ideal for the average individual who wants to stay connected while away.

More companies today are trying to produce web based programs or at least web based versions of programs that can be accessed via the internet. This allows individuals with netbooks to stay super productive and be able to do things without a huge processor.

Netbooks are not the perfect solution for all people. They are only for those who need a mobile solution that will help them say productive and connected to the internet where they may go.
